Wednesday 9th September: Another grey day today but brightening later and somewhat warmer as well. We set off towards Hinckley stopping again for water before the LimeKiln. Then we moved on, luckily we had chosen not to try stopping at Trinity Marina since there was no room to moor up - someone was having lunch on the diesel & shop mooring! Stopped at bridge 23 for the Farm shop and at Ashby Boats for coal. Onwards passing plenty of craft on the move to Sutton Cheney where we managed to moor on the now rather rickety decking which passes for a 48 hour mooring!
Went off for a walk through Ambion Woods and over Bosworth field to Shenton station and saw the last train of the day depart at 4:05pm (an ex Midland region bubble car).
Then followed the old railway track bed back to the canal and down the towpath back to Sutton Wharf.
