09-03 Norton Junction on the Grand Union Canal

Thursday 3rd September:  Made an early start today demooring at 8am just after it stopped raining!  We stopped for water at Weedon

and did not see another boat on the move until we were nearing the M1.  Got to Buckby locks with no queue of boats in evidence  as we had expected since lock 12 top gate is inoperable and a notice about delays had been issued by CART.  However as we were helped up through together with nb Sanity at Last we were informed by the Canal and River Trust lads that the flight would be closed all day tomorrow while they tried to repair the gate.  Once through the flight we continued past the junction

and moored up.

Had a walk with the dogs in the afternoon back as far as the canal ware shop Anchor Cottage at lock 8 and past this post box in someones garden

- guess it doesn't get emptied by Royal Mail!
