08-05 Hemel Hempstead on Grand Union Canal

Wednesday 5th August: Reasonable start to the day but promise of rain later so we do not intend to go too far.   Just finishing coffee after breakfast and nb Moonrakers Dream goes past and acknowledges us (we were moored near each other at Lechlade back in June).  We set off and just caught them entering the first of the two Nash Mills Locks.  Proceeded to lock through the next six locks together and both watered up at Apsley after having to let some water into the pound so that we could reach the tap.  Moored up in the long pound above Boxmoor locks at Hemel and had a leisurely lunch before taking the dogs through the fields belonging to Boxmoor Trust. Just on the way back to PO and it started to rain, bang on prediction from BBC Weather app!
