Friday 31st July: Once dogs exercised and all breakfasted we set off up the Union through Wide Water Lock. The small nb Odin waited for us despite another boat emerging from Harfield Marina and making for the lock and then reversing back again. We lost Odin owing to their engine failure on the way to Black Jacks Lock so we started to fill and then spotted them coming so aborted and reopened the gate for them. Then on to Copper Mill Lock where we stopped for water and they carried on. Watered up watching River and Canal services putting in new piling below old Copper Mill arm. Onwards to Springwell Lock where we caught up with nb Odin again. and then through Stockers Lock where we both started to look for somewhere to moor just before the local Tesco superstore. All of this corridor from Denham is a series of old gravel pits now lakes and nature reserves with rivers and canal all providing a green corridor away from London. Had a walk up to the next lock with the dogs and rubbish to dispose of. Otherwise a quiet and relaxed evening.
Saturday 1st August: Started the day with the intention of moving on but weather fine and port side of the boat against the towpath was in the shade so decided to have a wash and polish to tidy PO up, it now being nearly two months since the job was last done. When finished Bridie attacked my hair with the scissors, having already done her own, as my haircut back in Lechlade had been well and truly over grown. After a 'light' lunch we took the dogs for an explore of the Aquadrome, watching some skiing on Batchworth lake and then walking round a quieter Bury lake with views down a much larger Stockers lake.
